This walk starts from Carhullan which is up a minor road from Bampton. Follow the sign to The Hause. There is a good, little-used, well-graded, grassy, 4-wheel drive track, indistinct in places, but going all the way to the High Street ridge. The ridge is fairly plateau'd so you have to walk a bit further towards Ullswater to get the best views, but they extensive. The summit of Wether Hill is not all distinctive and is marked by a pathetic cairn. The descent back to Carhullan also follows grassy 4-wheel drive tracks, but these are very indistinct in places and I did much of the route off-track. It is easy to wander too far to the left (north) so keep the Cawdale valley on your right in sight. At Carhullan there is a gate marked with a footpath sign that get you back onto the road you drove up.
