Lonscale Fell (715m), Lattrig (368m) - 30/07/2019
Distance: 8km; Ascent: 500m; Time: 3h 30m
Park at the main carpark for Skiddaw at Under Skiddaw and start on the steep, strenuous boring scar that is the path up Skiddaw. Where the main path diverges from valley of Whit Beck follow the much more pleasant narrow track through heather and bilberry that continues up to the west of the valley. Go through a gate at the plateau and turn east to reach the summit. Continue on to get the view from Lonscale Pike (703m). We then followed a path south along the top of Lonscale Crags, eventually rejoining the Cumbria Way, to return to the car park.
Here we ditched our backpacks in the car to make the short ascent of Latrigg, with its splendid views over Derwent Water and Keswick.
