Bowscale Fell (702m) - 09/05/2019
Distance: 8km; Ascent: 470m; Time 2h15m
Park in Mungrisdale. Most of the ascent is the same as for Bannerdale Crags. The path over the boggy area leading to the fork in the path, (at which our path leaves river Glenderamackin), has been much improved by a sequence of large concrete slabs. Having ascended to the plateau turn right (north) and the summit of Bowscale Fell is easily reached. The onward path to complete the circuit is not marked on OS maps but it clear on the ground. The descent of raven crags is steep and there is a wire fence to cross to reach the road - the steep descent and fence crossing can be avoided on a narrow track leading to river Glenderamckin. Views are pretty good and this is a nice short circuit.
