Cliburn Moss - National Nature Reserve - 24/04/2017
This was a very nice reserve, mostly wet woodland but with a fairly substantial heath section as well. Trees were mainly birch and Scots pine with an understory of bog plants in the wetter sections, bilberry in the dryer sections and with a large expanse of cotton-grass in the heathy area. Wildlife seen today included 2 Red Squirrels, 4 Roe Deer, Willow Warbler, Blackcap, Treecreeper, Great Spotted Woodpecker |
