Burnbanks - 15/05/2022
Distance ~5km; Ascent: ~250m; Time ~2h
Park at Burnbanks, just east of the Haweswater dam. Follow the path along the north shore of Haweswater until you cross a stream with waterfalls, on a footbridge. Follow a minor path up the hill on the southwest side of the stream until you come to another footbridge. From here make for Four Stones Hill - there is a path on the map, but it is not so easy to follow on the ground. The views of Haweswater from the top of the hill are great. There are many small hills between here and Burnbanks and it is good fun to yomp up and down them. The hill called Burn Banks has a radio mast marked on it on OS maps - but only the footings remain. Once back at Burnbanks it is worthwhile to follow the short section of the Coast to Coast path through the woodland to Naddle Bridge - in May there is an amazing display of bluebells here.
