Rossett Pike (651m), Allen Crags (785m), Esk Pike (885m), Bow Fell (902m) - 01/08/2019
DIstance: 16km; Ascent: 950m; Time: 6h 30m
Park in the National Trust car park at Dungeon Ghyll. This walk could be done either way round - we started on the Cumbria Way, turned up Rossett Gill and bagged Rossett Pike. Passing Angle Tarn the view ahead is dominated by Great End. From Esk Hause we diverted to take in Allen Crags and stopped here for lunch. Returning to Esk Hause we turned to ascend Esk Pike and the on to Bow Fell. Views are tremendous all around and amazing from the summit of Bow Fell. We were particularly struck by the view of Scafell and Scafell Pike from this direction. We considered continuing on to Crinkle Crags but discretion dictated saving this pleasure for another day.
